Alisa Hove is a professor and chairs the Biology Department at Warren Wilson College, a liberal arts college known for its curriculum that combines experiential learning, work, and community service. Dr. Hove is a plant evolutionary ecologist with 20 years of experience teaching and research in higher education. She is a strong supporter of the expeditionary learning model and in using authentic inquiry-based approaches to teach the valuable skills of critical thinking, creative problem solving, and collaboration.
Dr. Hove is a founding parent at FSI and has two sons, one of whom graduated from FSI in 2021 and another in 11th grade. She holds a doctorate in evolutionary biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a master’s degree in biology from Humboldt State University, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California, Davis.
