Caroline is the Director of Non-Majors’ Biology Curriculum and a Lecturer of Biology at UNC-Asheville where she has taught for the past 12 years. Her pedagogical interests focus on helping students understand the relevance of science in their lives and igniting an interest in many facets of the living world. She encourages her students to make connections between basic biological principles and subjects they read or hear about in the news. She is involved in on-going research on the evolution of life history strategies in ambystomatid salamanders and enjoys advising students in their research. Caroline believes strongly that our children should be given the framework and support to achieve their personal bests. She knows from experience that challenging our students to gain critical thinking skills, become proficient in verbal and oral communication, and to develop self awareness and a sense of personal responsibility, will serve them well in the future.
