William (Bill) S. Hansen is Chief Investment Officer for Parsec Financial Management, Inc., an employee and family-owned registered investment advisory firm specializing in financial planning and investment management for clients across the United States. Bill joined Parsec in 2003, prior to which he led the private client services division for a Chicago-based regional bank.
He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Arts in finance, and studied management and economics abroad at Curtin University in Perth, Australia. Bill earned a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in International Business from DePaul University in Chicago, IL, that included visiting the Czech Republic to study the privatization of state owned firms. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA® ) charterholder. Bill is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA North Carolina Society, and has also been quoted in the Wall Street Journal. Bill and his wife Danelle have two sons: Jack is a sophomore at Virginia Tech majoring in business entrepreneurship, and Ian is a junior at Franklin school of Innovation.
