Mr. Baptista is from Boston, Massachusetts and recently moved to Asheville. He likes to explore different places and felt like Asheville was a perfect home for his family. The Baptistas live close to good hiking trails and can often be found at DuPont State Park.
Mr. Baptista is the 6th grade social studies teacher at FSI. He has a few years of experience aiding and subbing for 6th grade teachers. During these experiences he saw innovative teaching techniques that were foreign from his middle school years as a student. In these classrooms, students were active participants and enjoyed the learning process. He vowed to also create a classroom environment in which students are empowered while working on captivating projects. FSI embodies this principal in their EL model so it was a natural fit for him as a teacher.
I look forward to meeting all members of the FSI community as we start another amazing school year.
