Jen is thrilled to be part of The Franklin School of Innovation EC High School team. Prior to moving to Asheville in the summer of 2017, she was a member of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools at North Broward Preparatory School from 2011 to 2017 as a secondary science teacher. She taught Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Biology & Life Science for college-bound students with learning differences for six years in the Lighthouse Point Academy program, as well as served as the Director of Student Progress and Advancement and 11th & 12th Grade Level Coordinator.
She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Special Education/Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disturbances, and Varying Exceptionalities from Florida State University. Prior to joining the North Broward family, Jennifer served as Middle & High School Academy Chairperson at American Heritage School/American Academy of Boca while also serving as the American Academy Science Teacher.
She is a certified Apple and Google educator and committed to integrating technology into the classroom. She is a strong advocate for all students and families.
After teaching a variety of grades and courses for 23 years, she is excited to be an inclusion teacher serving the EC kids in all of their courses. While teaching science to students with learning differences have been her passion for years, she can’t wait to help them learn in all of their subjects.
Jen and her husband Daryl have 2 sons, Mack and Jake and 2 dogs, Van and Bess. When she’s not at FSI, she likes to hike, check out waterfalls and support the local food scene.
