Zoe Wallace is the 7th grade math teacher and GSA Sponsor at FSI. She graduated from Warren Wilson College with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Art History. While studying Math, she came across the work of Bob Moses, a civil rights leader and math educator. His work inspired Zoe to pursue a career as a math educator. She believes math has the ability to liberate people, with the skills gained from the lessons math teaches us. She wants her students to go into the world with a critical mind and confidence. She strives to make her classroom a place where every student feels safe, cared for, and confident in themselves. Connections are at the foundation of all this work. Before arriving at FSI in 2022, Zoe worked as a farmer and butcher in Appalachia. In her free time she likes to work with ceramics, garden, and cook for her community.
