April Hausle
April Hausle has enjoyed building a career centered around horticultural and environmental education over the past decade. She earned her bachelor’s in Environmental Science from UNC Asheville, and masters of Horticultural Science, as well as graduate certification in Agricultural and Extension Education, from NC State University.
Before coming to teach at FSI, April worked for City of Charlotte’s Landscape Management department as City Horticulturist, designing medians on city streets, as well as implementing the city’s pollinator program. Previously, she has worked as a horticulture and agriscience teacher at Durham Public Schools, and as an Environmental Educator and Outreach Specialist at the North Carolina Arboretum.
As an educator, April believes in cultivating engaging learning experiences to help students understand and appreciate plants and the natural world. She works to provide meaningful hands-on and collaborative activities, and to create an inclusive classroom environment.
