Gretchen Kehrberg
I’ve taken a winding path to get where I am today. I grew up in central Kansas and studied biology at Bethel College. After college, I moved to Seattle, where I worked for environmental nonprofits and as a naturalist for Seattle City Parks. I later earned a master’s degree in environmental studies from the University of Montana and worked for the National Wildlife Federation in Washington, DC. It was in DC that I decided to become a teacher, which took me to Austin, TX, where I taught middle school science and special education and later worked at the regional level supporting teachers and schools. In 2021, I moved to Asheville to be closer to family and joined FSI, first as the 12th grade EC teacher and now as the College & Career Counselor. Some of my passions include traveling and exploring new places, reading, hiking, collecting rocks, camping, dinners with my family, and hanging out with friends.
