Tony Freeman
A member of FSI’s founding faculty, Tony Freeman brings passion, experience, and vision to the FSI Community. In his twenty-six years as an educator, he has taught in a variety of school settings including four years at the American Embassy School in New Delhi, India and two years at Hong Kong International School. He has worked in several Buncombe County Schools, including Avery’s Creek, Black Mountain Elementary, and Koontz Intermediate.
He is a graduate of The University of Alabama-Birmingham and was mentored by leaders in literacy education and research, Maryann Manning, Lester Laminack, and Roberta Long. He stresses the importance of leadership to his students and helps them acquire and hone the skills they will need to succeed in school and in life.
Tony believes his role as a teacher and Principal is not simply to deliver information but to deliver inspiration. His goal is to foster in young people a love of learning, a recognition of their own ability to be positive contributors to our society, and an ever-expanding view of the world in which they live.
Mr. Freeman became the Middle School Principal at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.
