Here are just a few resources I wanted to share as we turn our clocks back and hunker down for the hard work of second quarter, holidays, and more virtual schooling.
Here’s a short but super helpful blog post by local school counselor and adolescence guru Kriya Lendzion, LCMHC, LCAS, CPS, about how we can prepare ourselves for supporting our kids pre- and post-election, no matter what results you’re hoping for. (If your student seems to be experiencing overwhelming election-related stress, encourage them to come to the listening circles I’m offering during our Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning small-group enrichment time this week.)
I’ve had a lot of conversations with students lately about motivation. This article from the NY Times offers tips for how to foster motivation in students when they’re just not feeling into “doing school” anymore.
Finally, our students seem to be struggling with getting adequate sleep more than ever before. (Not surprising, right?) Here are a couple tip sheets to share and discuss with your teen if they’re struggling to get to sleep and sleep well:
