Chad joined the FSI family in December 2019 as a substitute teacher and shortly thereafter became part of the Beyond the Bell team. Now in his third full year at FSI, Chad teaches French II, French III, and High School PE. Along with these classes, Chad is also one of the Crew Leaders in the 11th Grade. One of Chad’s greatest passions at school is found in building positive relationships with his colleagues and with his students, and witnessing the academic, social, and emotional growth that the students experience over the course of the school year. In addition to his academic roles, Chad coaches the co-ed High School Ultimate Frisbee team and the Ladies High School Soccer team.
Chad graduated from UNC Asheville in 2017 with bachelor’s degrees in History and French. While he was a student at UNC Asheville he played for, captained, and was president of the Bulldogs Ultimate Frisbee club. After university, Chad spent two years as an English Teaching Assistant in French secondary schools in the cities of Paris and Lyon.
While he is a North Carolina native, Chad also lived for several years in Benin, Zambia, and Guinea. Away from school, Chad is a passionate participant and fan of sports. Growing up, he played baseball, basketball, soccer, and field hockey. Most recently, he played for the Switzerland national ultimate frisbee team during his time in Europe. His other passions and interests include travelling to new places to experience different cultures, reading great books, gaming, and most of all, playing with his Australian Shepherd dog, Halley.
