Beth grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of central Virginia. Ever since a high school teacher encouraged Beth to audition for a play, she has been involved with theatre. Beth earned her undergraduate degree in Theatre from Towson University and went on to receive her MA from The University of Illinois at Chicago. After graduate school, Beth served with Teach for America in southern Louisiana, whose mission of equitable education for all public school students continues to guide her work to this day. Beth returned to Chicago and worked as a teaching artist in Chicago Public Schools, as well as working in the theatre scene. After moving to Asheville, Beth had the honor of teaching theatre at ArtSpace Charter school in Swannanoa, NC for fifteen years. At ArtSpace, Beth developed her skills of teaching curriculum through the arts.
When she’s not teaching, Beth spends her time doing yoga, trying to grow things in her garden and hanging out with her family.
She is thrilled to continue her journey as an educator at FSI and to build community through the theatre arts.
