Jennifer (aka JR) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Professional School Counselor in the state of North Carolina. She graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University with a MA in Developmental Psychology with a focus in Prevention and Early Intervention. She also holds a MA in School Counseling from Fairfield University. Jennifer began her counseling career in Connecticut working in extended day treatment and as a school counselor. She relocated to the Asheville area six years ago, and has been working in community mental health settings as a licensed therapist. Her clinical background includes intensive in-home services, school based therapy providing outpatient plus services, a therapeutic boarding school for adolescents, and a residential program focusing on mental health and holistic wellness for young adults.
Jennifer is a certified yoga teacher and passionate about incorporating mindfulness and experiential learning into her counseling work. She believes that every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. In the past 11 years, she has challenged herself to learn how to surf, snowboard, stand up paddleboard, and keep plants alive.
Outside of school, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her 14 year-old Jack Russell terrier (Owen), practicing yoga, exploring nature, traveling, reading, and challenging herself on adventures.
