Kati Robbins grew up in southwestern Ohio and developed a love for the arts at a young age. It was her own high school art teacher who inspired her to pursue a career in the arts. Kati earned a Bachelor of Arts with a specialization in painting and drawing at The Ohio State University before embarking on a career in arts fundraising at The High Museum of Art in Atlanta, GA and then San Francisco Ballet. She made the enthusiastic decision to transition to arts education over 10 years ago with the goal of inspiring art students as her high school art teacher inspired her. After moving to Asheville, Kati taught art to a variety of age groups in many different environments before settling in at FSI. She is a practicing artist with a focus on mixed media and assemblage and enjoys collaborative, community based projects. When Kati isn’t making or teaching art she can be found gardening, cooking, reading and hiking in the mountains.
