Dr. Paula Dowd joined the FSI community during the 2022-2023 school year working as the Special Services Director and transitioned to the role of High School Principal in the 2024-2025 school year. Dr. Dowd is an experienced school administrator who has had numerous leadership roles throughout her vast career.
She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from Indiana State University, a Master’s Degree from Indiana University, her Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from East Carolina University and Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Dowd has practical classroom experience working with students at all grade levels and an extensive background in the administration of school level programs and curriculum. She has also been part of the Graduate Teaching Faculty at East Carolina University, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the College of Education, Department of Special Education, Foundations and Research.
Dr. Dowd is a leader who supports teachers so they have the resources and knowledge needed to have a positive impact and who are equipped with tools to ensure student success. She encourages students to work to their full potential and prepare for their future beyond high school. Dr. Dowd fosters a collective relationship between students, parents and school.
In her leisure time, Dr. Dowd loves to travel and explore new places, spend time relaxing, and just enjoying life with her family and friends. She is a lifelong learner who is always researching, reading and adapting to constantly changing societal and educational environments.
