Latt is excited to be a part of the Franklin faculty teaching 6th-grade Science. Latt and his family have lived in Asheville for the last 5+ years. Before joining Franklin, He worked in the horticulture industry for the last decade. Working for the largest seed company in the country, hosting a radio call-in show about organic gardening, and most recently being a research and development grower for one of the top three commercial nurseries in the U.S. Latt is finishing his Master’s in Arts and Teaching this winter with Lenoir-Rhyne University, and holds a B.S. in Horticulture from the University of Arkansas.
His philosophy on education is steeped in his passion for understanding the natural world around us and belief that stoking children’s interests creates students who seek out learning for the rest of their lives. “I will have succeeded this year if my students experience learning that inspires curiosity and fun about the world around them as we learn and grow together.”
When he’s not teaching, Latt raises heritage breed chickens and continues to operate a fiber arts business that he and his wife started 15 years ago.
