Al Glicksberg has spent a good amount of time working in the field of education, as teacher in the NYC School System, and then for 41 years at Riviera Schools in Coral Gables as Principal. For 25 years he was on the advisory board for the University of Miami’s School of Education, representing independent Schools.. Over the last 30 years, he has served as the Florida Association of Independent Schools (AISF) Certification and Master Inservice Coordinator & Partner with the Florida Department of Education, developing and managing a Master Inservice Program for the 90+ member schools of AISF that enables teachers and administrators to improve their knowledge and teaching skills, meeting the needs of their individual schools while also meeting the Florida Department of Education requirements for obtaining and maintaining Florida Professional Teaching Certificates. Mr. Glicksberg has served on and headed numerous accrediting committees for AISF over the last 40 years and has been the recipient of two special service awards during this time. After seeing many different education models over the years, Mr. Glicksberg has become a strong supporter of the expeditionary learning model. He has been an FSI Board Member since 2018.
Since moving to Asheville, Mr. Glicksberg, along with his wife, Rhonda, has been Owner/Director of BrightStar Care of Asheville, a Joint Commission accredited home health care agency. Mr. Glicksberg has two grandsons attending FSI and looks forward to next year when his third grandson will also attend FSI.
