Mrs. Kelli (she/her/hers)
A native to San Diego, California, she received her B.A. in Sociology as well as a Masters in Special Education from California State University Fullerton. In 2014 Mrs. Kelli moved to Asheville NC with her family where she received her teaching degree in ESL (English as a Second Language). She is currently FSI’s ESL Coordinator and Reading Interventionist.
Mrs. Kelli comes from a long line of teachers and social workers. She has always had a passion for supporting youth from diverse backgrounds. As a young college student Mrs. Miller started a nonprofit community center for urban youth. During her ten years running the community center her passion for supporting the social emotional as well as academic needs of diverse youth grew. She knew that it was time to transition into teaching and supporting English to English Language Learners.
For the last ten years she has been teaching and case managing grades 9-12 Multi Language students as well as collaborating with community organizations, specifically those working with immigrant, refugee and migrant populations in order to provide wrap-around services and assist in community building for ML students and their families.
In her spare time, Mrs. Kelli loves paddle boarding, hiking, and mountain biking with her family as well as yoga, cooking, and playing music.
