Donate to FSI Hurricane Recovery Fund
Good morning Franklin families,
I hope everyone has enjoyed a lovely break filled with people you love. Take today to rest up – the three weeks from now to winter break are a sprint! We have a lot of learning to do and there are many opportunities to get involved, be engaged, and support our students at athletic, social, and music events. I look forward to seeing many of you before the break!
This week gets us off to a rocking start with Spirit Week, Giving Tuesday, and Homecoming. We’ll also sneak in our rescheduled school pictures- so plan ahead. Students and staff are invited to join the fun with the following Spirit Week themes:
- Monday – Pajama Day
- Tuesday – Bolts Day – wear school gear and come cheer on our team!
- Wednesday -Dress Like a Teacher Day
- Thursday – Ugly Sweater Day
- Friday – Anything But a Cup Day
Please remember that school pictures are Thursday for high school students and Friday for middle school. Parents/families are responsible for determining what your student will wear for school pictures. We do not make those decisions on your behalf.
Friday evening our high school Prom Committee is hosting a movie night for middle school students and on Saturday high school students are invited to join us for the Homecoming Dance. More information is provided below for both events.
Giving Tuesday is this Tuesday!
Please join us this Tuesday in the annual global day of giving and gratitude. This year we are asking our broader community to help us as our region recovers from Hurricane Helene. As we move into the longer-term recovery efforts, schools play an important role in community resilience and recovery. Schools are essential as communities get back to work – both because we provide safe and engaging spaces for students and also because we are on the front lines. We are often the first responders, providing and connecting students and families with services and resources.
Our Stronger Together Hurricane Recovery Fund will help us fill the gaps in our educational program, ensuring we are able to provide transportation, meals, and engaging activities like field trips for our students. It will also help us meet the immediate needs of our students and staff – providing gift cards for food or gas, or replacing items lost in the floods.
Donate to FSI Hurricane Recovery Fund
If your family is in a position to give, please consider a larger contribution this year. If you experienced loss during the hurricane, perhaps you can share the donation link and information with your extended friends and family members who want to help WNC recover. Join us on Facebook or Instagram this Tuesday at 8 am, 10 am, noon, 2 pm, and 4 pm for live updates and to hear the stories of resilience from our community!

Reminders
Apply for Free/Reduced Lunch
We strongly encourage families to apply for free and reduced lunch. If your family is experiencing a loss of income due to the hurricane, you may qualify for free or reduced meals based on your current income. It is important to our school to collect this information for two reasons. First – it helps us support our families! We will use the free and reduced meal application for all school-based financial aid and scholarships, including meals as well as scholarships for field trips, Beyond the Bell services, and clubs.
Having accurate information about the number of families who qualify for free or reduced lunch also supports the school. Some sources of funding are based on this number.
You can apply for the free and reduced meal program at www.myschoolbucks.com or under the quick links through your My School Bucks app. If you have any issues, contact Tammey Harper at tharper@thefsi.us.
